Okay, I bought the retail copy of Max Payne 3, four discs. Bought and paid for. After installing the game, it doesnt work. Thinking I did something wrong. Not a fast process. Anyway, same thing, runs the updates, but no go. Check the net, a lot of problems with the game.
Tried all of em to get the game working, nothing. Then I get the idea' try cracking the game', never know right? And what do yo know. Fucking game works. After a day and half trying to fix my problem, the people who cracked the game got it working. Now seriously, what in the fuck is going on.
I like buying my games. I like PC games, but what the hell, I had to crack the game to get it working? Does that make any sense at all? It's a fact, that from a technical aspect, cracks and fileshare games (as software) blow the DRM-ridden, activation-hoops-filled, registration-requiring out-of-the-box retail games. I'm not condoning piracy, you're asking 'WTF', I'm saying it totally makes sense because that's how it is, pirated software works better and runs better than legitimate software. My game is being shipped as we speak, but if it gives me shit when it arrives I won't hesitate to get the superior EXE and play the damn game I've payed for and am unable to access.
Social Club my ass. @zaglis said: So, as we are speaking about the quality of the port. I am so glad I didn't pre-(purchase) the game.
The mouse controls suck dick. They are accelerated to hell, the mouse sensitivity settings are a disaster and, THE BEST PART, when you enter bullet time the mouse slows down to a crawl, making it impossible to aim. Meaning you have to avoid using bullet time.in Max Payne. I'm a sucker for mouse controls, and the sensitivity here is fine. The acceleration too. Devs said multiple time that the mouse acceleration is linked to what weapon Max carries. Want perfect acceleration?
Drop that 2-hand weapon you're carrying off-hand and use one pistol with both hands. As for the bullet time, its slow because it is chained to Max's slowy-behaviour during the effect. It doesn't make you avoid Bullet Time, it's just to make it more credible. @zaglis said: @Klei: Sorry, no. But that is a horse shit excuse and you know it.
'Credible', 'bullet time' and 'realism'? Unless you are Arma, you can go and fuck off.
At the end of the day, your game has piece of shit mouse controls and your game is not fun to play. I almost pre-ordered it (if it wasn't for the 60$) just because Max Payne 1 and 2 had such an excellent mouse control. So, at this state, I wouldn't even pick MP3 up for 5$. Well my game was just dispatched so I'll refrain from asking and just hope for the best;O. @Dagbiker said: Im not going to say its your fault for buying a Rockstar PC port, but thats what happens when you buy a Rockstar PC port. @zaglis said: So, as we are speaking about the quality of the port. Rockstar actually did a great job with the PC version of the game this time around, and the mouse controls are fine. Just bump sensitivity in whichever direction you please. Anyway, I was expecting this to absolutely chug like GTA IV but it runs like butter maxed out ('maxed' out harharhar). The 'awful Rockstar PC ports' stigma does not apply here. This is a solid version of the game and they deserve credit.
@TheDudeOfGaming said: @AhmadMetallic: Dude, piracy is wrong, and you shouldn't condone it. Since I didn't condone it and we're somewhat of forum buddies, I think you're only joking, but I wish you didn't because I almost got banned for condoning it in the past.
To be clear, all I said was that fileshare software is easier to work and handle than legitimate software, tech-wise, which is simply a response to the OP's surprise. Yup, being in fear of getting banned from my favorite website is real fun:/. @hoossy said: @harinosho: Bigger question.
How does it look!? Looks insanely beautiful, most of my settings on max, only thing i set medium is shadows and AA is off (I dont really like the blur). The water effects, the visuals.
All done in 60 frames a second? It's like jesus said 'wake the fuck up and look at this'. @AhmadMetallic said: @TheDudeOfGaming said: @AhmadMetallic: Dude, piracy is wrong, and you shouldn't condone it.Since I didn't condone it and we're somewhat of forum buddies, I think you're only joking, but I wish you didn't because I almost got banned for condoning it in the past. Why exactly did you need to be super aggressive when I answered to you in a totally civilized manner? I'm sorry, but if you didn't figured out yet that Rockstar tried a REALISTIC approach to Max Payne, then I don't know what to tell you. And yes, realistic. Credible movements, credible storyline, credible firefights.
That's why you now use cover to take a breather and analyze where you're going to shootdodge next. Motion captured movement, realistic physical behavior, realistic gun behavior and all that. On top of that, they kept the shootdodge, which has also been motion captured. Mouse controls are fine, they respond to the character's movement. No, it's not super arcady like MP1 and 2 but I think it was pretty clear from the numerous videos we've had that it wasn't going to be alike. Other than the shootdodge thingy, Max Payne 3 has one of the most realistic gunplay and gunfights seen in a non-military action game. I don't know why I had to explain all this to you, really.
You hate the game, fine, I'm sorry you spent your money on this, but then again, that's not my problem. You should have seen it coming. @Dagbiker said: Im not going to say its your fault for buying a Rockstar PC port, but thats what happens when you buy a Rockstar PC port. Ok some people are having problems with this game so it must be because its a shitty rockstar PC port right? Well no thats bullshit I have a fairly old system with a good gpu and I have had no problems at all running this maxed out at 60 FPS. People blaming it on the fact that its a rockstar port need to shut the fuck up already.
@RobotMoses said: It was the same story with the PC port of L.A. Game would never get past the menu screen/opening for me and lots of other folks until cracked. That's sadly how Rockstar's PC ports are. Another game I had no problem running on my old system.
I didnt think the PC version of L.A Noire was all that bad. Its not like rockstar PC games are the only games that have problems on day one and need to be patched.

Meaning you have to avoid using bullet time.in Max Payne. Have you even tried changing the mouse controls. And your glad you didnt pre-purchase the game? So what you didnt pre-purchase it but you bought it anyway and now you dont like the way it controls? Are you just going off of shit you have heard about it or do you own it or what? @Funzzo: You should probably consider yourself lucky, then. The past three Rockstar games for PC have been kinda busted for lots of people.
Non-Steam versions of L.A. Noire are still notoriously difficult to log into because of the Social Club nonsense and it looks like the same story for Max Payne 3. The fact that there's other publishers than Rockstar that pass off bad PC port jobs as acceptable(.cough. THQ.cough.) doesn't make it okay for them to poopoo on their paying fans like this, especially when you consider that these are kinda the exact same problems GTAIV had on PC. @RobotMoses said: @Funzzo: You should probably consider yourself lucky, then. Yes we all know the PC version of GTA4 was crap but people need to get over that and stop with all the 'Well GTA4 port was crap so all Rockstar Pc games afre gunna suck' argument. Also I should say I am using the steam version of both LA Noire and Max Payne 3. Also I have had no problems with rockstars social club.

Also, I just finished the game and had absolutely no problems with the controls.
